How We Coordinate Your Packaging

A structured five-step process that connects your brand vision to production-ready packaging.

01

Packaging Brief

You share your product concept, target market, brand guidelines, and any existing packaging references.

02

Format & Material Selection

We recommend container formats and materials that align with your formula properties, fill weight, and cost targets.

03

Decoration Coordination

Surface decoration options are confirmed -- printing method, color matching, finish type -- aligned with your brand identity.

04

Sample Confirmation

Pre-production samples are produced for your approval -- covering fill, decoration, label placement, and overall presentation.

05

Production Coordination

Packaging procurement is synchronized with your bulk production order to ensure on-time delivery without delays.

What Our Packaging Service Covers

Five coordinated service areas that address every aspect of bringing your packaged product to market.

Module 01

Container Direction

Selecting the right container is the foundation of packaging success. We assess your formula's physical properties -- viscosity, texture, fill weight -- alongside your target market and price positioning to recommend suitable container formats and materials. We work within your project's parameters and do not make commitments on behalf of specific suppliers.

  • Format compatibility with formula type (liquid, cream, powder, stick)
  • Material selection guidance (glass, ABS, PP, PCR options)
  • Fill volume and weight verification
  • Closure and dispensing mechanism review

Packaging combinations primary and secondary packaging
Module 02

Packaging Combinations

A complete product requires both primary and secondary packaging that work together structurally and visually. We coordinate the full packaging combination -- from the primary container to outer carton -- ensuring dimensional fit, structural integrity, and brand consistency across all components.

  • Primary container + secondary packaging alignment
  • Outer carton and shipper box coordination
  • Insert, tray, and protective cushioning review
  • Gift set and multi-SKU bundle packaging
Module 03

Decoration Coordination

Surface decoration transforms a standard container into a branded product. We coordinate decoration specifications -- technique selection, color matching, artwork file preparation requirements, and finish quality standards -- ensuring the final result reflects your brand's aesthetic. We advise on what is technically achievable for each container type and surface.

  • Hot stamping, silk screen, and UV printing options
  • Frosting, metallization, and coating finishes
  • Pantone color matching and artwork file specs
  • Decoration quality standards and inspection criteria

Label information coordination and regulatory compliance
Module 04

Label Information Coordination

Label content must satisfy both your target market's regulatory requirements and your brand's communication goals. We coordinate the information flow between your formula documentation, regulatory requirements for your target markets, and your brand's design team to ensure labels are accurate, compliant, and production-ready before print.

  • INCI ingredient list provision from formula records
  • Market-specific labeling requirements (EU, US, GCC)
  • Net weight, batch code, and PAO symbol placement
  • Artwork review for print-readiness before production
Module 05

Production Alignment

Packaging delays are one of the most common causes of production setbacks. We manage packaging procurement timelines in coordination with your bulk production schedule, ensuring components arrive on time for filling and assembly. Our production team tracks packaging readiness as part of the overall order management process.

  • Packaging lead time mapped to production schedule
  • Incoming packaging inspection before filling
  • Shortage and non-conformance resolution process
  • Final assembled product quality review before shipment

Packaging Questions Answered

Common questions from brand owners about our packaging coordination service.

What information should I provide when starting a packaging brief?

The more context you provide, the faster we can move. Helpful information includes: your product type and formula (or intended formula), target fill weight or volume, your target market and intended retail channel, brand identity references (colors, aesthetic direction), any packaging references you like or dislike, your target unit cost range, and your planned order quantity. You do not need to have all of this finalized -- we can work through open points together during the initial discussion.

Can I supply my own packaging and have CHOICEODM fill it?

Yes, we can work with client-supplied packaging under certain conditions. We will need to review the packaging specifications in advance to confirm compatibility with our filling equipment and the formula's requirements. Client-supplied packaging must pass our incoming inspection before use in production. Please note that lead time and responsibility for packaging defects or shortages remain with the client in this arrangement. We recommend discussing this option early so we can advise on technical requirements and potential risks.

How does packaging selection interact with formula development?

Packaging and formula must be developed in parallel, not sequentially. The formula's viscosity, texture, and active ingredients influence which container materials are compatible -- for example, certain actives can react with specific plastics or metals. Conversely, the chosen dispensing mechanism (pump, doe-foot applicator, twist-up stick) may require the formula to meet specific viscosity or hardness parameters. We coordinate both sides to ensure compatibility before any components are ordered, avoiding costly late-stage changes.

How is the final packaging sample confirmed before bulk production?

Sample confirmation follows a structured review. We first produce a pre-production sample (PPS) that includes the actual filled formula, decorated packaging, label, and secondary packaging. You review this sample against an agreed checklist covering fill level, decoration quality, label placement, color accuracy, closure function, and overall presentation. Written approval is required before bulk production commences. Any changes identified during sample review are addressed and re-sampled as needed. This step is mandatory -- we do not proceed to bulk without confirmed sample sign-off.

What is the typical timeline from packaging brief to production-ready sample?

Timeline varies depending on whether packaging is sourced from existing options or requires custom tooling, and how quickly artwork and label content is finalized on your side. As a general reference: selecting from available container formats and proceeding to a decorated sample typically takes 4-8 weeks. Custom-tooled packaging requires additional lead time for mold development. We will provide a project-specific timeline estimate during the initial brief review, and we track packaging milestones alongside your production schedule throughout the project.
